A Character Switch[1] is an object in Super Mario 3D World and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. Each of these P Switches has a character emblem on it for Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad, or Rosalina; only the character whose emblem is shown can press the switch. When the switch is pressed, in most cases a stamp appears, but the switches can also reveal a Green Star or a line of coins.
A description of each of the Character Switches and the levels they appear in are as follows:
- Mario switch: Depicts a red "M" emblem; appears in World 2's Really Rolling Hills and World Flower's Blast Block Skyway.
- Luigi switch: Depicts a green "L" emblem; appears in World Bowser's A Beam in the Dark.
- Princess Peach switch: Depicts an emblem of Peach's Crown; appears in World 3's Pretty Plaza Panic.
- Toad switch: Depicts an emblem of Toad's head; appears in World 5's Backstreet Bustle and World Flower's Sprawling Savanna Rabbit Run.
- Rosalina switch: Depicts a Grand Star emblem; appears in World Star's Rolling Ride Run.

Trivia
- The only Character Switches that yield something other than stamps are the Toad switch in Sprawling Savanna Rabbit Run (which gives out a Green Star) and the Mario switch in Blast Block Skyway (which activates a line of coins).
- The Character Switches' stamps are always of the respective character's Small form.
- Luigi's switch is the only one not found in a level with an alliterative title.
