Template:Item-infobox A baseball[1] is the main focus of the Mario Baseball series. They have also made small appearances in various minigames in Mario Party, which are usually baseball-related, such as Swing Kings. Baseballs have also appeared as a throwing item in Super Mario 3D World.

History

Super Mario series

Super Mario World

These throwing items first appear in Super Mario World; at that time players cannot use these items, as they are one of Chargin' Chuck's weapons. In this game, some kinds of Chargin' Chucks are seen hurling baseballs at the player. When these baseballs hit the player, he or she will get damaged and lose items. In Mario Mania Player's Guide, these baseball-throwing Chargin' Chucks are referred to as Confused Chucks.

Baseballs appear in Super Mario 3D World as a throwing item. This time Chargin' Chucks do not throw these items; players can pick them up and throw them at other enemies to defeat them. These items can be found in various places. Baseballs can be used to get Green Stars from a distance and the World 6 Mystery House requires the use of baseballs to obtain all Green Stars.

Mario Baseball series

Baseballs make their first major appearance as the main focus of Mario Superstar Baseball and Mario Super Sluggers. Baseballs are used in the same fashion as baseball in real life: pitchers throw them to batters, the batters swing and attempts to hit the ball, and fielders catch the ball and attempt to get the batters and runners out, but with some additional Mario spins added, including Power Shots and Error Items.
