Mario Party: The Top 100:

Blame It on the Crane is a 1-vs-3 minigame in Mario Party 4, Mario Party: The Top 100, and Super Mario Party Jamboree. The name of this minigame is derived from the title of the Milli Vanilli song "Blame It on the Rain."

Introduction

In a close-up view on a wheel with Shy Guys in balls, a crane lowers but fails to grab one. The scene zooms out as the crane rises and the wheel starts spinning, and the game begins.

Gameplay

In the minigame, each member of the team is placed in a color-coordinated capsule (the capsules resemble gashapon capsules, which capsules and Orbs from later Mario Party games are based on) along with six Shy Guys in similar balls. The balls and characters are on a large circular platform that spins counterclockwise. The solo player, positioned to the right of the platform, controls a large crane that must be used to capture the team players as they pass. Grabbing a Shy Guy by mistake has no penalty other than lost time. The solo player wins if they capture all the team players. The team wins if any of its members survive for the entire time limit.

In Mario Party: The Top 100, instead of Shy Guys, there are Koopa Troopas inside the plastic balls.

In Super Mario Party Jamboree, the Shy Guys are yellow instead due to a red Shy Guy being playable.

Ending

The wheel stops spinning. Afterwards, in Mario Party 4, if the solo player wins, they will jump out of the crane to the center of the wheel and do a winning pose. If the team players win, the remaining players' balls will disappear, and they will do their winning poses while the solo player just sits in the crane silently. In Super Mario Party Jamboree, the screen fades to white and then back to the players, who are standing on the backside of the wheel, where the member(s) of the winning side do(es) their winning animation(s), while the member(s) of the losing side do(es) their losing animation(s) behind them.
