History
Super Mario series
Super Mario World
In Super Mario World Yellow Yoshis have the ability to create sand clouds and fall faster when holding a Koopa Shell, in addition to spitting fireballs or flying if the shell is red or blue respectively. They can be found as Baby Yoshis in Star World 3 and Star World 5.
In the Game Boy Advance remake Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World, once a Yellow Yoshi has been found in the Star World, it can be found in a ? Block in place of a Green Yoshi, provided it is Super Mario who hits a block containing a Yoshi Egg.
Super Mario 64 DS
In Super Mario 64 DS, Yellow Yoshi is one of the playable Yoshis in VS. mode. The fourth player plays as Yellow Yoshi.
Mario & Luigi series
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, there is a single Yellow Yoshi in Yoshi Theater. It is also one of the seven hungry Yoshis within the theater who are hungry, and thus must be fed a Bean Fruit. Once the Yellow Yoshi is fed a Bean Fruit, he creates a Yellow Neon Egg.
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time
In Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, a Yellow Yoshi is among the initial group of Yoshis hiding from Yoob in Yoshi's Island. After the group is discovered by Mario, Luigi, Baby Mario, and Baby Luigi, all of the Yoshis run away and end up being eaten by Yoob. Later, after the heroes end up eaten by Yoob, they find the Yellow Yoshi, who is now lying on the floor with hunger. There is a nearby piece of fruit that can be given to the Yellow Yoshi, who immediately feels rejuvenated and runs to help the other Yoshis push a Chomp Rock down Yoob's stomach. Later, Yellow Yoshi helps the other Yoshis push the Chomp Rock out of the way of a doorway, and run into it once a path has been cleared. The Yoshis then take refuge in a side room, where the Yellow Yoshi only complains about wanting more food. Once Sunnycide is defeated, all of the Yoshis immediately escape Yoob. The Yellow Yoshi, along with the other Yoshis, briefly believe that Baby Bowser saved them until Toadbert explains the situation to them, who promptly thank the heroes.
Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam
A Yellow Yoshi appears in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam in the Gloomy Woods village. He has found a huge melon the Mario Bros. want to feed a Wiggler blocking their path. When they ask for the melon, the Yoshi challenges the brothers to a race, with the winner getting the melon. During the race, the Yellow Yoshi flutter jumps to cross gaps, along with ground pounding when the Mario Bros. are nearby. When the Mario Bros. win the race, the Yoshi reluctantly gives up the melon.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Yellow Yoshis also appear in the Wii game, New Super Mario Bros. Wii. They hatch out of Yellow Yoshi Eggs, but only when two or more players are playing. They are intended to be Luigi's Yoshi, as he is depicted riding a Yellow Yoshi on the game's box art. Yellow Yoshis can only be found, like the other Yoshis, in the levels World 1-3, World 2-5, World 3-2, World 4-5, World 6-4 and World 7-6.
Super Mario Galaxy 2
In Super Mario Galaxy 2, Yoshi's Bulb Yoshi form greatly resembles a Yellow Yoshi, except that his shoes are orange as opposed to green. No actual Yellow Yoshis make an appearance, though.
New Super Mario Bros. U
Although fully grown Yellow Yoshis do not appear in New Super Mario Bros. U, as all Yoshis which can be ridden in the game are now green, Glowing Baby Yoshis are introduced instead. Glowing Baby Yoshis are infant Yellow Yoshis with the power to illuminate dark areas and briefly blind nearby Enemies, similar to Bulb Yoshis. Like the other Baby Yoshis, they wear orange shoes instead of the green ones a Yellow Yoshi normally wears.
Super Mario Run
Yellow Yoshi was made available as a playable character in Super Mario Run following the release of the version 2.0.0 update on March 22, 2017. It can be unlocked after purchasing Yellow Yoshi's House from the Kingdom Builder shop, which only becomes available if the player has collected 300 Blue Toads, 300 Green Toads, and 200 Purple Toads.

In Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Yellow Yoshi is playable for every world's mid-fortress.

Yellow Yoshi also appears as an alternate coloration for Yoshi in Super Smash Bros., Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
Mario Tennis series
Mario Power Tennis
In Mario Power Tennis, Yoshi can change colors every time he performs a Rolling Egg Return, provided the player has completed the Flower Cup with any character. One of the colors that Yoshi can turn is yellow.
Mario Tennis Open
Yellow Yoshi appears in Mario Tennis Open as a downloadable QR code character. Like Bowser, Donkey Kong, Wario, and Metal Mario, he is a power type character.
Mario Kart series
Mario Kart: Super Circuit
Yellow Yoshi is playable in Mario Kart: Super Circuit. However, he can't be played as in single player modes, and is instead played as by player 4 in the VS multiplayer mode when a Game Boy Advance link cable is used.
Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
In Mario Kart 8, Yellow Yoshi appears as an alternate skin for Yoshi. It is available though pre-ordering the Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing DLC packs. In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Yellow Yoshi is available from the start. Yellow Yoshi is the 200cc staff ghost for 3DS DK Jungle.
Mario Hoops 3-on-3
Yellow Yoshi appears as an alternate color of Yoshi in Mario Hoops 3-on-3. The alternate colors are unlocked by achieving a silver trophy in the Flower Tourney in Hard Mode. The player must hold the 
or 
while putting normal Yoshi in the hoop during character selection.
Mario Super Sluggers
In Mario Super Sluggers, a Yellow Yoshi is a team player. Among all of the playable Yoshis though, it had the weakest running abilities. In Challenge Mode, it is found in Yoshi Park by ground pounding next to a tree near the rainbow bridge leading to Birdo.
Mario Sports Mix
Yellow Yoshi also appears in Mario Sports Mix, as an alternative coloration of Yoshi. The Yellow Yoshi can be unlocked by playing 20 matches with Yoshi or completing the Yellow Yoshi mission at Flower Cup.
Fortune Street
In Fortune Street, two Yellow Yoshis make cameo appearances in the Yoshi's Island board.
Paper Mario: Color Splash
A Yellow Yoshi appears in Paper Mario: Color Splash in The Emerald Circus, where it is found in a cage along with other wild Yoshis. Once the Yoshis break out of their cage, the Yellow Yoshi can attack Mario with its tongue, eating one of his Battle Cards if he doesn't block the attack.

Physical Appearance
In Super Mario World, Yellow Yoshi had yellow skin, but had orange gloves, brown shoes and a brown saddle.
In Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Yellow Yoshi looked about the same as it did in Super Mario World, but with orange shoes and an orange saddle (as well as orange arms). However, in the Game Boy Advance port (and following games), Yellow Yoshi wore light green shoes.
From Yoshi's Story and beyond, Yellow Yoshi had light green shoes and a red saddle.
