Bump blocks are a variety of block can be hit like most other blocks, but are infinitely reusable. They cannot be destroyed and are unchanged by being hit, comparably to how Brick Blocks behave when hit by Small Mario. Bump blocks first appear in the Mario Bros. minigame in Super Mario Bros. 3, where they have a very similar appearance to and serve the same function as Floors from their original game: spanning wide platforms that the player must hit from below to defeat the enemies on top. Unlike the Floors they are based on, bump blocks are significantly larger, and only move as individual blocks. Super Mario Bros. Wonder reintroduces bump blocks with a very different appearance, now gray with a large wavy dark gray stripe along their side. They behave much as they have before, though they can now be Ground Pounded from above and hit with thrown Gamboo or Jars. Some bump blocks dispense items when struck. After doing so, they remain as bump blocks and can continue to be hit. They prominently feature in KO Arena levels as a means of defeating the targeted enemies.
