Like most other city courses in Mario Kart Tour, this course has three routes; Bangkok Rush, Bangkok Rush 2, and Bangkok Rush 3, with the last two debuting together in the 2023 Winter Tour. The course visits various landmarks of the city it is based on, with the first route involving the Chao Phraya River and Maeklong Railway Market, the second route taking racers through Esplanade Ratchadaphisek and the Talat Rotfai, and the third route featuring the Giant Swing and Democracy Monument. The first and second routes additionally feature the BTS Skytrain, with Inky Piranha Plants serving as obstacles underneath. The third route starts in the opposite direction compared to the other two.
The city course's routes in relation to each other.
Bangkok Rush
In the standard layout, the course starts at the Grand Palace beside a building with two elephant statues, with the Wat Arun visible ahead. After a gradual left turn, the player briefly travels across the Chao Phraya River with rowboats that can be tricked off of. A sharp left turn follows, followed by a sharp right near the Democracy Monument. Another sharp left brings the player through the Maeklong Railway Market, where the player can either go onto the stalls via wood planks or drive in the middle of some train tracks. After a gradual U-turn, the course goes underneath the elevated rail tracks of BTS Skytrain surrounded by King Power Mahanakhon, shopping malls that resemble MBK Center and Siam Paragon, and the Giant Swing, with Inky Piranha Plants and cars. The player can also go up some stairs to reach the Skytrain section. The course then takes a left S-curve next to the giant Ganesha statue and the Phra Buddhasaiyas to the finish line.
The river section of the course triggers the underwater propeller if the player turns to the right at the start of the area.
The course also appears as Bangkok Rush R (reversed), Bangkok Rush T (with ramps), and Bangkok Rush R/T (reversed with ramps). In the T variant, Rocky Wrenches are added to the lower part of the market section.

Bangkok Rush 2 starts at the same place as Bangkok Rush in the same direction, but the player takes a gradual right turn this time, leading to a street. Another gradual left turn further down leads to a parking lot that resembles Esplanade Ratchadaphisek, inside of which there are three sharp left turns upwards, before the player makes a jump onto the Train Night Market Ratchada, where the player can either bounce on the tents, or drive underneath them. After a sharp right turn along the Ratchadaphisek Road, the layout follows similarly to the first variant, having the player drive on or under the BTS Skytrain railway, before making their way to the finish line.
The course also appears as Bangkok Rush 2R (reversed), Bangkok Rush 2T (with ramps), and Bangkok Rush 2R/T (reversed with ramps).

This route starts in the opposite direction of the other two. The player makes two right-angled left turns before driving on to a decorated street lined with parked tuk-tuks. Racers then take a slight right to drive up a hill, before going off of a glider ramp and gliding either beneath, or around the Giant Swing and Democracy Monument. Additionally, players can opt to drive around the landmarks using roads that circle around them. After that, the player turns right to a road besides the Chao Phraya River, where they can bounce off of parked tuk-tuks, before making another final sharp right turn to the finish line.
The course also appears as Bangkok Rush 3R (reversed), Bangkok Rush 3T (with ramps), and Bangkok Rush 3R/T (reversed with ramps).

Bangkok Rush returns in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as part of Wave 4 of the Booster Course Pass. It appears as the first course of the Boomerang Cup. It serves as an expanded and combined version of the three routes for the course. Similarly to Tour London Loop, the course is noticeably brighter and paler compared to how it appeared in Mario Kart Tour. It is also more foggy compared to the Tour version. The Inky Piranha Plants below the BTS Skytrain rails have been replaced with the ground Piranha Plants in their Mario Kart 64 design and functionality. The Sky Asiatique now spins, as opposed to remaining stationary. Fireworks have been added to the background.[1]Koopa Paratroopas have been added as spectators near the Talat Rotfai. Jump Boosts can no longer be performed going up the parking garage or the sky train rail. The minimap has also been rotated 90 degrees clockwise. The curbs at the beginning of the Bangkok Rush 2 route and at the end of the Bangkok Rush 3 route are no longer offroad.
The first lap of the course follows Bangkok Rush, with racers starting at the Grand Palace facing the Wat Arun and taking a left onto the Chao Phraya River. After another left and then right at the Democracy Monument, racers come to the Maeklong Railway Market, with the option to drive atop the market canopies or along the railway below; the wooden plank path leading to the left stretch of canopies is now absent, although that side remains accessible via a Jump Boost. A gradual U-turn then leads racers to the BTS Skytrain rails, with the option to go atop or below them; four descending paths are now available to racers at the end of the top path (one from Bangkok Rush, one from Bangkok Rush 2, one accessible in both routes, and one previously unused). Exiting the railway area, another right turn leads back to the finish line.
Lap 2 largely follows the route of Bangkok Rush 3, but begins with a brief portion of Bangkok Rush 2, as racers take a right instead of a left at the starting area, then take a left and drive through a street lined with markets. Arrow fields force racers to keep going straight towards a glider ramp that takes them past the Giant Swing and Democracy Monument; racers can alternatively drop to the ground below and drive around the Monument. A new shortcut has been added to the right of the monument; racers can glide over a fence and use a Mushroom to get through a grass patch and onto the main track again. They then take a gradual right onto a side-street lined with Dash Panels and Sidesteppers (replacing the parked tuk-tuks seen in Tour) adjacent to the Chao Phraya River. Another right leads racers back to the starting line in the reverse direction.
In a similar manner to lap 2, lap 3 largely follows Bangkok Rush 2, but utilizes the opening portion of Bangkok Rush 3, as racers take two lefts underneath the BTS Skytrain rails and then a right to get back to the market street. They turn left and spiral through a parking garage, and afterwards have the option of bouncing atop or driving under the tents in Talat Rotfai. Another right leads racers to the BTS Skytrain rails, and as with lap 1 they have the option of driving atop or below the rails, with all paths leading to a right turn before reaching the finish line.
Bangkok Rush is one of three courses from Mario Kart Tour to appear in the fourth wave, alongside Tour Amsterdam Drift and Tour Singapore Speedway. It is also the only city track from Tour to have teal arrow fields instead of red, and one of two courses in general with this distinction, the other being N64 Kalimari Desert.
Unlike most other courses using arrow fields, Bangkok Rush can be driven in reverse briefly without Lakitu picking up drivers, with the third lap route loading in; however, the course soon becomes untraversable in reverse due to leading into the Talat Rotfai's lower level. Thus, unlike N64 Kalimari Desert and Tour London Loop, no unusual behavior results from going backwards.
Internally, in version 2.1.0, a very brief snippet of the course's music was present, referred to as "Cnsw_55", implying it may have originally been intended to be the first course of the Cherry Cup.

Bangkok Rush is one of two race courses in Mario Kart Tour, the other being Merry Mountain, to have its final lap music altered in a later tour. In the Bangkok Tour, its music was pitched up by five semitones for the final lap; however, in the 2023 Winter Tour, this was changed to being pitched up by one semitone, as in most courses in other Mario Kart games.[4][5]
