Some have theorized that underwater Bullet Bills may qualify as a Torpedo Ted appearance, and, while such an rare occurrence did indeed happen in the second stage of ''[[Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins]]''<nowiki>'</nowiki> [[Turtle Zone]], the "Torpedo Ted" that resulted had no special characteristics and could be destroyed. In addition, the generic Bullet Bills were fired off underwater in ''Super Mario World'' itself in the stage [[Sunken Ghost Ship]].

Torpedo Teds resembled and acted like the Bullet Bills featured in this game.  As such, they would home in on Mario then explode, just like a Bullet Bill. Torpedo Teds have most recently appeared in ''[[Super Mario Galaxy]]''. Here, they act like the Bullet Bills of the game, homing in on the player. Here they are shot from things that look like [[Bill Blasters]], and resemble the Bullet Bills in [[Super Mario Sunshine]]. Here, they can be defeated only by a [[Rainbow Star]],or leading them into a wall.

Torpedo Teds are torpedoes that move underwater, and resided in Soda Lake during the events of Super Mario World. Torpedo Teds are relatives of the much more common Bullet Bills, but the torpedoes are much larger than their bullet brethren. The torpedoes are dropped by Skull Boxes, just as Bullet Bills are fired from Bill Blasters. Mario and Yoshi encountered Torpedo Teds during their adventures in Dinosaur Land. Torpedo Teds moved fairly fast and could be hard to avoid due to the narrow pathways within Soda Lake. These torpedo enemies are also indestructible.

Torpedo Teds also reside in a few underwater areas of Vibe Island as depicted in Super Princess Peach. Many are under the influence of the Vibe Scepter, transforming the torpedoes into Glad Torpedo Teds.

Additionally, Torpedo Teds appeared in Super Mario Galaxy. Torpedo Teds resembled and acted like the Bullet Bills featured in this game. As such, they would home in on Mario then explode, just like a Bullet Bill. Torpedo Teds are also fired from cannons that resemble underwater Bill Blasters. In this game, these torpedo enemies could only be defeated by Rainbow Mario, or by causing them to crash into a wall, each other, or some other object.
