The Master Poet (whose real name is Simon) is a character in Paper Mario. He is a Toad who hangs out in Club 64 to be near his love, the Pop Diva. The Pop Diva is completely unaware of the Master Poet's love and affection for her. When she loses her voice, the Master Poet is stricken with grief. He usually speaks sentences that rhyme.

The first time Mario visits him, the Master Poet says that he wants to write lyrics, but the last line is unfinished. If Mario visits him later, he will finish the last line and give the Lyrics to Mario, asking him to find a composer to complement the Lyrics with music. With the Melody from a Toad in the Desert, the Pop Diva is able to sing again.
