Hide-and-Sneak is a 1-vs-3 minigame found in Mario Party 3 (where it is formatted as Hide and Sneak) and Mario Party Superstars. Its name and gameplay are based on the game hide-and-seek.
Gameplay[edit]
The minigame begins with the team players having five seconds to choose one of four hiding places (a rock, a tree stump, a bush, and a mushroom house). Each player's hiding spot is determined by their last input on the controller. While the timer goes down, the characters are shown running between the hiding places, though their movement is random and independent from the players' actual inputs.[1] Any rival player that does not choose a hiding spot exits the stage and is considered out.[2] Once the five seconds are up, the curtains close and reopen with the team already hidden. The solo player then has ten seconds to select one of the hiding places to remove from the stage. If this reveals one or more characters, those are eliminated. This process is repeated for two more rounds with only the remaining hiding places. The solo player wins if they find all three team members within the three rounds. Otherwise, the team wins.
In Mario Party Superstars, if the team wins with one or two players remaining, the eliminated players come back on stage to perform their victory poses with the team.
Trio Challenge[edit]
In Mario Party Superstars, this minigame is available in Stage 1 and Stage 4 of the Trio Challenge in Mt. Minigames.
In Stage 1, human players play as a team against an Easy CPU solo opponent, and the rank requirements are:
- A: All three team members survive
- B: Two team members survive
- C: Only a non-CPU team member survives
- D: Only a CPU team member survives
In Stage 4, a single human player plays against Easy CPU opponents, and the rank requirements are:
- A: Find all rivals within the first two rounds
- B: Find all rivals in three rounds
