To get the item they desire, the player must press the button to stop the wheel. The wheel then stops spinning and points to an item they desire. The minigame opens with the wheel showing off every light, then the player presses a button on a pipe that rises out, activating the wheel.

The gameplay involves pressing the button again to stop the wheel for an item. If it points to Baby Bowser (replaced by Bowser Jr. in Mario Party Superstars), which it lands on automatically if the player runs out of time, the player gets nothing.
