Spoings[1] are brown-striped spiders that first appear in Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2. They appear mostly in the Space Junk Galaxy and are found in large numbers along the path leading to Tarantox. They only attack by jumping into the air and floating there for several seconds before falling back to the ground in hopes of landing on Mario who can defeat the Spoings by jumping on or spinning them. They release a coin or three Star Bits, depending on how they are defeated.
They reappear in Super Mario Galaxy 2, only found in Tall Trunk Galaxy and Flip-Out Galaxy. Additionally, they can be defeated by Yoshi's swallow attack, in addition to the aforementioned methods.
