The Double Dice (formerly known as the Double Dice Set and Double Dice Block) is an item in the Mario Party series first appearing in Mario Party DS. As the name suggests, the item allows the player to roll two Dice Blocks (2-20 spaces). The effect is similar to the Mushroom, Mushroom Orb, and Twice Candy from past games.
In Mario Party DS, the Double Dice Set can be bought in the item shop for three coins. A Double Dice Set is almost always available in the item shop. Rolling a matching pair of numbers will give the player 10 coins. Two 7's will award 30 coins. This item is also very common when the player is in first place. Nearly every computer player that goes to the item shop will purchase a Double Dice Set.
The Double Dice Block appears as a special Dice Block in Mario Party 10. Here, the Double Dice Block can only roll from 1 to 6 — as with normal Dice Blocks — and the player gets no coin bonus for rolling two of the same number. The Double Dice Block can appear if the player stops on a Special Dice Block Space.
The Double Dice Block returns in Mario Party: Star Rush and Mario Party: The Top 100, albeit renamed to Double Dice; it functions the same as it did in Mario Party 10. In Toad Scramble, the two Dice Blocks used are those of the current leader (e.g. if Toadette is the leader, two Cutie Dice Blocks are rolled). This item is the default item for amiibo characters if they do not have Mario Party 10 data saved on them.
The Double Dice also returns in Mario Party Superstars. Its function is nearly identical to its appearance in Mario Party DS, except rolling two "7's" now only awards 10 coins instead of 30.
