Green bananas appear as items in a few Super Mario–related games, particularly the Donkey Kong Country series and Donkey Kong 64. Green bananas have little difference from bananas besides their light-green peel, comparable to Blue Bananas and their light-blue peels.
History[edit]
Donkey Kong Country series[edit]
Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble![edit]
Green bananas are featured in certain Bonus Levels, of Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, where the goal is for Dixie and Kiddy Kong to collect fifteen of them on time for a Bonus Coin. Only one green banana spawns at a time, as well as in random spots. After a few seconds, if the green banana is not collected, it disappears before respawning elsewhere on the map.
Through the use of the "MERRY" code, which gives the Bonus Levels of the game a Christmas theme, the green bananas are replaced with presents, which serve the same purpose.
Donkey Kong Country (Game Boy Color)[edit]
Green bananas[1] in the form of Banana Bunches reappear in certain levels of first remake of Donkey Kong Country. They are the same as ordinary Banana Bunches, being worth ten bananas when collected, but their purpose is to indicate that a DK Sticker Pack is hidden nearby. By re-entering a level where the DK Sticker Pack has been obtained, the green banana becomes a regular Banana Bunch.
Donkey Kong 64[edit]
Green bananas in Donkey Kong 64 can be collected by only Chunky Kong, appearing semi-transparent and non-tangible otherwise. The first seven stages each have 100 green bananas, and like the other banana colors, green bananas are required to feed Scoff. Green Banana Bunches also debut, being worth five green bananas, and popping a green Banana Balloon with the Pineapple Launcher earns Chunky ten green bananas.
Donkey Kong Country television series[edit]
In the Donkey Kong Country animated series, green bananas of a different type appear in the episode "Watch the Skies". They are eaten by Diddy, who believes it would keep the aliens away. Later, when he sees General Klump sleepwalking and mistakes him for an alien, Diddy shoots a green banana out of its skin at him, waking him up.
