Coming Home is the first side quest in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. It is unlocked after defeating Gorumbla. It expires upon visiting the Lushgreen Sea, Great Lighthouse Island.

Side quest

When Mario and Luigi return to Shipshape Island after bringing Gorumbla to his senses, they overhear three Concordian aunties talking about Willma's child coming. Depending on if the player chooses Raynforst Island or Twistee Island, Maykit or Billdit will be at the Shipshape Island Workshop.

The Bros. happen upon Billdit and Maykit talking. The Bros. find out that Willma might be upset for her children making her worry about them. The sibling not running the workshop asks the sibling running the workshop to come home to Rumbla Island alongside him or her as backup. However, the one running the workshop insists that the other should go alone. Upon returning to Rumbla Island, the Bros. happen upon the sibling telling their mother about how upset she might be. Willma assures her child that she is not worried at all, and that she's just glad that her child is okay. Mario and Luigi then show up, and explain that they have come to see how Willma and her family are faring. Afterwards, the sibling rewards the Bros. with a pair of Picnic Boots.

The following quotes are from the Gossips automatically after defeating Gorumbla and then returning to Shipshape Island.

  • "Did you hear, dear?"
  • Yellow gossip: "Looks like Willma's son/daughter is coming to Shipshape."
  • Pink gossip: "“Coming,” nothing. Look over there!"
  • Yellow gossip: "Oh my! Maybe they'll live together again, mother and son/daughter under the same roof! Wouldn't that be nice? I think so, anyway."
  • Pink gossip: "Well, I hear the child hasn't even gone to visit her at home yet."
  • Yellow gossip: "Is that so? Oh dear. Well, I suppose Willma can be a little bit intimidating."
  • Blue gossip: "Why, didn't she silence a whole island with that thunderous ‘tude of hers?"
  • All three: "Ah, we go too far! Ohohohohohoho!"

The following quotes are from the Gossips if they are spoken to while the side quest is available.

  • Yellow gossip: "Do you think Willma and her child have reconnected?"
  • Pink gossip: "Have they seen each other yet?"
  • Blue gossip: "Ohhh, that’s worrying…"
