The Left-Behind Toad is a side quest in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. In this quest, Mario and Luigi find and rescue a Toad stranded on Inphant Islet.

The quest becomes available after lighting the Color-Full Sea, Great Lighthouse Island and clearing the Letter from a Drifting Island side quest and expires after the first visit to Wayaway Island. Clearing the side quest awards two 1-Up DXs and two Candies.

Side quest[edit]

To begin the side quest, Mario and Luigi must fish up a bottle containing a note inside of it on Shipshape Island. The note reads:

"How long's it been since I was sent flying to this island?"

"It's a small island, that's for sure. There's almost nothing on it."

"Just pipes. That's it. Pipes."

"I'm bored! Nothing to eat but grass. Only clouds for companions!"

"Now my cap is drying out. I have little hope that I'll be rescued."

"But maybe throwing this message out to sea will do something."

"Whoever you are, if you're reading these words. PLEASE HELP."

There is also a single crumpled page from a letter:

"Oh, Mario and Luigi, I hope you're both doing well."

"Please, Princess Peach, forgive me. I won't be returning for a while."

Snoutlet then has the idea of visiting the Allsand Island brothers because they might know something about deserted isles and castaways.

After Mario and Luigi tell the Allsand Island brothers about the note, the older brother hands Mario a treasure map showing an island full of pipes in the Brrrning Sea, revealing the location of the location - Inphant Islet - on the Ocean Map. Before the Mario Bros. leave, the younger Allsand Island brother quietly begs to Luigi to let him join the two on their quest. The older brother then scolds his younger sibling as he made a promise not to go wandering off on solo missions.

Upon arriving at Inphant Islet, the Bros. see a Toad trapped in the pipe maze. After reaching to him, he shows surprisement and joy about being rescued by Mario and Luigi. The group returns to Shipshape Island, where the Toad thanks the two and gives them their reward. The side quest is then complete.

    "
  • "According to the letter, a Toad is awaiting your help on an island full of pipes. Where could they be?"
  • "Destination: Inphant Islet
Bring the Toad back to Shipshape.
    "

Gossips' dialogue[edit]

The following quotes are from the Gossips if they are spoken to while the side quest is available.

  • Yellow gossip: "Sometimes I just want to fish."
  • Pink gossip: "Totally! It's exciting to think you might catch something...tasty!"
  • Blue gossip: "But you know what? I was at the fishing spot earlier. I saw a weird object floating by. It looked like a bottle."
  • Yellow gossip: "Then it has to be..."
  • Pink gossip: "Unmistakably..."
  • Blue gossip: "Just some trash. Surely."
  • All three: "Oh goodness! Ohohohohoho!"
