First appearance Mario & Luigi: Brothership (2024)
Inhabitants Concordians

Concordia[1] is the main setting of Mario & Luigi: Brothership. It is described as a parallel world where the ocean stretches out before Mario and Luigi, to which they arrive through a mysterious portal that opened up near Peach's Castle.[2] Concordia was once a single continent, but it was broken apart into many islands.[3] These islands range from tropical rainforests to bustling cities, and can be accessed by the brothers via the cannon mounted on top of Shipshape Island. Its name is the Latin word for harmony, and serves as a pun on "connection cord." It may also have been chosen as a reference to several real-life historical sailing ships of the same name, and Concordia-class cruise ships.

Upon his awakening, the overarching antagonist Reclusa christens Concordia as Reclusa World.[4][5]

Inhabitants[edit]

This section is a stub. Please consider expanding it to include any missing information. Specifics: Other enemies and bosses

It has been requested that at least one image be uploaded for this section. Remove this notice only after the image(s) have been added. Specifics: Examples of the various colors / proportions of the humanoids

The most common species inhabiting Concordia are humanoids with plug-shaped faces resembling Type B regional outlets. They come in a wide variety of skin colors (such as lime green for Rumbla Island and green for Bulbfish Island) and proportions (for example, Connie and Ireen have relatively wide faces and are short, while Technikki, Dulles, and Cozette are taller and have narrower, taller heads), with wires coming out from the top of their heads that act as their hair. Some Concordians still have typical facial hair and eyebrows, however. There are also the Skorcheen and Slippenglide peoples who additionally have fire and ice attributes, respectively.

In addition to the Concordian humanoids, there is a species of flying pig-like creatures, with the only known members being Snoutlet and the Great Conductor. There are also the Extension Corps, consisting of Ecks, Ten, and Shun, who are based on different types of electrical connectors instead of plugs. The other members of Zokket's army were artificially created by him.

Other inhabitants include Grampy Turnips (humanoid turnip creatures that can be pulled out of the ground) and Gorumbla (a mischievous gorilla-like creature).

Musical theme[edit]

  • "Reclusa World" first plays during the cutscene in which most of the Concordians on Shipshape Island are trapped in Reclusa's flowers, after the player defeats Zokket. This theme then plays on most of the islands in Concordia, overriding the background music that played before until the player defeats Reclusa. These track, however, does not play in caverns, the Great Lighthouse Islands, inside the Duplex Buildings on Lottacoins Island, inside the Jellyfish Hall on Jellyfish Island, Wayaway Island, and the Soli-Tree.
