History
Mario Party
Mecha Fly Guys first appear in Mario Party, where the Mecha Fly Guy is sold in the Mushroom Shop for one-hundred coins. After being purchased, it is sent to the Mini-Game House. Selecting it makes the player play a game, where they have to rotate the as many times as possible for ten seconds. The Mecha Fly Guy then flies around the room until it falls on the floor. It then says how long its flight was, and how many times the player rotated the . It then makes a comment on how the player did.
Mario Party 2
In Mario Party 2, Mecha Fly Guys only appear in the minigame Mecha-Marathon. In this minigame the players have to wind up the Mecha Fly Guy until they release it, making the Mecha Fly Guys fly. The player with the Mecha Fly Guy who flew the farthest wins. The color of the Mecha Fly Guy matches the character that uses it.
Mario Party 3
A Mecha Fly Guy makes a minor appearance in the Mario Party 3 minigame Messy Memory, as one of the toys the player must memorize.
Mario Party 4
In Mario Party 4, a Mecha Fly Guy appears in How High, Fly Guy? (the Coin Minigame of Shy Guy's Jungle Jam), where the player must wind up one to the best maximum height it can go, earning coins for the highest height.
Mario Party 5
Mecha Fly Guys, referred to as simply Fly Guys in this game, have several roles in Mario Party 5. One appears as the host for the Duel Minigames, while more can be seen in the background of some of the minigames themselves: Blown Away, Bound of Music, Merry Poppings, and Sky Survivor. They also appear in the minigame Rumble Fumble, where the player must collect 3 of them to win.
Mario Party 6
Mecha Fly Guys, once again referred to as simply Fly Guys, make an appearance in Mario Party 6 in the Pitifall minigame, where they pick up one player if both fail to land on the platform.
Mario Party: The Top 100
The Mecha Fly Guy returns in Mario Party: The Top 100, where players can use it to steal an opponent's item. Mecha Fly Guys also return in the Mecha-Marathon minigame, having the same role as Mario Party 2. However, they are now color-coded by player number (red, blue, green, and yellow for players 1-4 respectively) rather than character.
