  • "If you see a ? Block, punch that sucker! There'll be coins or items in there."
  • "So it turns out that there are talking turnips. Who knew? Maybe they know something useful?"
  • "Did you know that some blocks are practically invisible? You gotta look real close to spot 'em."
  • "Check out the shiny ground under the streetlamps on Bulbfish Island. There might be somethin' good."
  • "When a lighthouse's Connectar Flower blooms, sometimes a new path shows up!"

  • "Watch your HP and BP gauges! Try to keep some recovery items on hand in case they get low."
  • "When you see weird-shaped reefs out at sea, let Issa Rock know. She's really into those."
  • "Stuck? Can't go forward? Try using a Bros. Move."
  • "When you get materials from enemies, bring 'em to the workshop and see if you can make new gear."
  • "If you go fishing from Shipshape, you might catch something other than fish!"
  • "Find any islets yet? You can check those out with a trip in the big cannon."
  • "Have you revisited any of the islands you already linked? There might be new stuff to see and do there!"
  • "Depending on what sea you're in and what bait you're using, you'll catch different fish. Try experimenting!"
  • "If you don't know where to go, head toward the red mark on the map. Always trust a red mark."
  • "The person who takes care of the Uni-Tree is called a Wattanist. Fancy!"
  • "Eavesdroppin's rude, but the ladies on Shipshape have really useful, important info, you know?"
  • "Some side quests have a time limit. Might want to put a rush on those, you know?"
  • "If you ever forget the controls, just open up Settings & Guide, then Snoutlet School."

  • "The materials enemies drop are the ingredients to make new gear."

Boss-specific hints

The following hints only appear when retrying a boss battle after losing.

  • "See where Gorumbla is guarding before you attack."
  • "When Gorumbla slides in to attack, counter by jumping onto his head."
  • "Knock the falling blocks back at Gorumbla. Pay attention to what direction he's facing though."
  • "Watch for when Gobblick lifts up its arms. Swing your hammer when it's vulnerable."
  • "When Gobblick spits objects from its mouth, it'll give you a heads-up first by slapping its belly."
  • "Gobblick's arms light up when they're about to swing. Watch for that and be ready to dodge."
  • "When Mega Snaptor is flying, you'll have to use Jump attacks—your hammers can't reach."
  • "When Mega Snaptor isn't flying, it will use its beak to attack. Stay calm and counter."
  • "With the whirlwind attack, watch the differences in speed. Wait until the last moment to dodge the low ones!"
  • "When Sharpcask is about to throw a barrel at you, watch how it raises its arms and avoid the attack!"
  • "If Sharpcask gets close to you with a box, use your hammer as it's bending backward."
  • "There's no point in attacking Sharpcask while it's guarding. Find an opening with Luigi Logic!"
  • "If Pipegunk has Burn or Ice status, you'll be hurt when using Jump attacks."
  • "Keep jumping off the lava that Pipegunk spits onto the floor to avoid damage."
  • "If Pipegunk has Ice status and disappears, you can see it if you look closely."
  • "Ground pounds make a powerful impact. Time your jumps to land when Bowser hits the ground!"
  • "If you land on Shy Guy's iron ball, it will be easier to dodge Bowser's fire."
  • "When Bowser summons his minions, it's about to get tough. Try to defeat him quickly with Bros. Attacks."
  • "Sometimes Bowser calms down when attacked. When this happens, use Luigi Logic!"
  • "If the Glohm area expands too much, things will get much more difficult. Find a way to get away from it."
  • "That airship in the sky... Did Luigi have a flash of inspiration?"
  • "Taking away your Battle Plugs seems harsh, even for a trial. The Great Conductor is strict!"
  • "When you break a fake cap, this is what happens... Try again!"
  • "If using the same Bros. Attack doesn't work, try out some others, especially ones you need practice at!"
  • "If Ecks steals one of your Battle Plugs, you can't use it in battle."
  • "Wait—the PunishMush Plug won't even let you use Mushrooms from a plug?"
  • "The Invincible Plug seems really powerful...if you can survive the big explosion it causes."
  • "Watch out when Zokket spreads his cape. His attack power will get a big boost!"
  • "After stopping attacks from a brainwashed bro., attacking them will not remove their brainwashed status!"

  • "If I get swallowed by a Doom Bloom, you can't use Luigi Logic."
  • "The Doom Blooms will keep growing and growing. Use Luigi Logic to take them down a peg."
  • "If Weeping Reclusa throws you, your brother can catch you as long as he's still on the ground."
  • "If the brothers are together, they can hit Weeping Reclusa's fireballs back at him."
  • "You'll take damage if you attack the Weeping Core with a jump. Try some other attacks."
  • "Don't be fooled by how the Weeping Core moves—watch for the speed and direction of the spike."
  • "If the Weeping Core charges at you, alternate hammer blows to fend it off."
  • "Even if the brothers turn to stone, don't give up. If you survive the attack, you'll turn back to normal."
  • "Watch the markings on the Reclusa copies' faces to see which brother will be attacked."
  • "When Reclusa is low on health, he'll start to panic. That's when to hit him with everything you've got!"
