Flipbugs first appear in Super Mario Galaxy, first appearing as a very common enemy in the Honeyhive Galaxy. When Mario approaches one, it will panic at the sight of him and then attempt slowly flying away from him while flailing frantically, eventually tiring out and tipping onto its back for several moments. When upside-down, it is vulnerable to any attack, including simply walking into them, defeating them instantly. Even while they are fleeing, they can be touched without Mario taking damage, and can be attacked to flip them onto their backs early. If Bee Mario approaches, however, they calmly start slowly hovering towards him with an "angry" expression, damaging him if one touches him without him attacking it. This implies that Flipbugs have a strong dislike of Honeybees. Attacking them in this state causes them to flip over as they otherwise would.

Flipbugs[1] are enemies in Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2. They are small, timid beetles with Mandibug-style faces that appear mostly in nature-themed galaxies.

History

Super Mario Galaxy

In the Gusty Garden Galaxy, some only appear when a stump is Ground Pounded.
