Template:Species-infobox Hot Lips[1] are lava-dwelling creatures that first appear in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3. They have a similar appearance to Gargantua Blarggs, but are much smaller and completely stationary.
History
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island / Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3
Hot Lips live completely inside lava, being permanently stationed in one place. To attack, Hot Lips peek out of their basin and spit a stream of lava in the direction of Yoshi and Baby Mario, in a manner similar to that of the Spray Fish. If the Yoshi is hit with lava, he instantly loses a life. Hot Lips can only defeated with a POW Block, as many other attacks are completely ineffective and eggs only temporarily stun them.
Yoshi's New Island
Hot Lips reappear in Yoshi's New Island in the level Gargantua Blargg Attacks!. Their lava streams no longer defeat Yoshi on the spot. Instead, they cause him to drop Baby Mario as most other enemy attacks.
