The title of this article is conjectural; an official name for the article's subject has not been found, so it has been given a fitting title by the editors. If an official name is found, then the article should be moved to its appropriate title.

N64 Toad's Turnpike from Mario Kart 8
A Red Car on Toad's Turnpike in Mario Kart 8.

A Red Car is an obstacle that appears in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! They are found on only two courses: in Mushroom Bridge of the Flower Cup, and in Mushroom City of the Star Cup. They are found driving on their own at a relatively low speed on the main streets. They are not found driving on shortcuts, so it is sometimes safer to take a shortcut than to get hit. Aside from color, they are virtually the same as the Blue Car.

The effect of hitting a Red Car has the same effect as hitting a banana, simply leading to a wipe-out. They cannot be destroyed; the only way to harm a Red Car is to hit it while using a Star, to run it over with a Chain Chomp, or to hit it with a Bowser Shell.

Red Cars appear once more in Mario Kart DS. They are in Shroom Ridge of the Flower Cup in the Nitro Grand Prix, and in Mushroom Bridge of the Leaf Cup in the Retro Grand Prix. This time, it flips racers over.

They appear again in Moonview Highway, the second course of the Special Cup in Mario Kart Wii, but instead of having the same effect of hitting a banana when getting hit by it, it flips racers over or flattens them momentarily.

In Mario Kart 8 and its remake, Red Cars appear in the retro course Toad's Turnpike, which originally featured primarily trucks and buses.
