Slipstreaming (also known as Drafting) is a technique often used in the Mario Kart series. It is present in Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart DS, Mario Kart Wii, Mario Kart 7, Mario Kart 8, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. If a player trails behind another racer (or tailgating) for a certain period of time, the player's vehicle will receive a speed boost similar to the Mini-Turbo. This can be used to ram the vehicle the player is slipstreaming behind and race ahead into a higher place. Slipstreaming is also useful when another player has been shrunk by Lightning or Lightning Cloud.
