Spanglers[1] are enemies in Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2. They are dark gray-striped alien spiders with maroon heads and are closely related to the fuzzy, brown-colored Spoings, both of which resemble the recurring Scuttlebug enemy. Spanglers hang from awnings by a thread of silk attached to a bright pink spinneret on their abdomens.
History
Super Mario Galaxy
Spanglers first appear in Super Mario Galaxy. When Mario (or Luigi) approaches where they roost, they descend to his level and begin swinging around gently to try and hit him. jumping on them defeats them immediately, while spining them or hitting them with a Star Bit causes them to swing away while twirling out-of-control, stunning them briefly and rendering them harmless for that period. If they are spun at in this state, they are defeated. They release a coin or three Star Bits, depending on how they are defeated.
