Template:Species-infobox Flomps (also called floating plates[1] or flipping panels[2]) are a Thwomp-like creature appearing in Super Mario Galaxy 2. Their name is a pun on "flop", alluding to their behavior. They appear as a green platform with spikes on their sides, and have a similar face to a Bomp.
History
Super Mario Galaxy 2
For the most part, Flomps act as ordinary platforms, with some revolving mildly in one spot and others moving from side to side. However, at set intervals, they make a rattle sound, their face becomes angry, and then quickly flip over. If Mario or Luigi is on one of these platforms when they flip, he will be knocked high into the air. They only appear in Bowser's Lava Lair and the Grandmaster Galaxy.
Mario Party: Island Tour
Flomps make a reappearance in Mario Party: Island Tour, acting and looking like they did in Super Mario Galaxy 2. They appear in the minigame Flip Out, where players must use them as well as regular platforms to cross a chasm to the finish line; characters that stay on a Flomp as it flips are flung three spaces backwards.
