Template:Species-infobox Jump Beamers[1] are purple, spring-like robots that appear in Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel, Super Mario Galaxy 2. They act as both enemies and helpful obstacles, attacking by sending out a circular laser in the area around them, but can be jumped on and used as a spring, allowing Mario to reach areas he otherwise would not be able to.
History
Super Mario Galaxy
Jump Beamers first appear in Super Mario Galaxy, making their debut in the Flipswitch Galaxy, where one guards the Power Star. They also appear in the Battlerock Galaxy and the Dreadnought Galaxy. Jump Beamers are stationary enemies fire lasers in a circular shockwave formation which will damage Mario if he makes contact with them. They cannot be destroyed by any means, but are able to be stunned by either jumping on top of them, or firing a Star Bit at them. If Mario jumps on top of a Jump Beamer twice, the spring beneath its head becomes exposed and it can be used like a Springboard.
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Jump Beamers reappear in Super Mario Galaxy 2, behaving identically to their first appearance. Only one appears in the game, being present in the Space Storm Galaxy.
