Boards are wooden cutouts of various entities that appear in Super Mario 3D Land. They can take the shape of Goombas, 1-Up Mushrooms, and Warp Pipes (referred to as Goomba Boards[1], 1-Up Mushroom Boards[2], and Pipe Boards[3], respectively) and occasionally give the player items when broken. They block Mario's path but can easily be jumped on or broken using either Tanooki Mario's tail, a roll, or a Ground Pound.
Two boards shaped like Bowser also appear in Super Mario 3D World, in Shadow-Play Alley and Trouble in Shadow-Play Alley.
Some Grand Goomba boards appear in the Mario Kart 7 course Piranha Plant Slide. They can be easily broken by ramming them, but they will respawn regularly. There is also one bush board that stands between the fences in an off-road area at the end of the course. They appear again in Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
