Gameplay
Overview
Two teams have to race using handcars. On a curve, the handcar has to be leaned to the left or right so that it will continue without losing speed. In Mario Party and Mario Party Superstars, leaning too much will result in the team falling down into the lava, after which they are out for the rest of the minigame. If both teams fall, the game ends in a draw. However, it is not possible to fall off the track in Mario Party 2 and The Top 100 (despite the former's Advice section in the rules suggesting players can). The first team to reach the end wins. In Mario Party and Mario Party 2, if five minutes pass, the minigame ends in a draw.

Handcar Havoc involves two teams using handcars to race through a volcanic area in Mario Party and Mario Party Superstars, or a mountain range in Mario Party 2 and Mario Party: The Top 100. Upon reaching a curve, a handcar leans either left or right to continue without losing speed. In Mario Party and Mario Party Superstars only, if a team leans too much, they fall off the track, eliminating them. In Mario Party 2 and Mario Party: The Top 100, a jump appears halfway through the track, indicated by "SPEED UP!" appearing onscreen in Mario Party 2, followed by a "GOOD!" or "MISS" depending on whether the team is at maximum speed after clearing the jump.

The first team to reach the end wins. However, should five minutes pass in the first two Mario Party games (three in Mario Party: The Top 100 and Mario Party Superstars), the end result is a draw. Furthermore, a draw can also occur if both teams fall in Mario Party and Mario Party Superstars.

Handcar Havoc can be bought at the Mini-Game House in Mario Party for 200 Coins or from Woody in Mario Party 2 for 100 Coins.

Overview[edit]
