Li'l Brrs,[1] originally known as Ice Bubbles,[2] are enemies in Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2. Their name is a direct reference to "brr," the common interjection used for being cold. They are the ice counterparts of Li'l Cinders. Li'l Brrs attempt to ram into Mario (or Luigi) and freeze him, inflicting damage.

History[edit]

Super Mario Galaxy[edit]

Cold water
An Ice Bubble on the Freezy Peak planet in the Freezeflame Galaxy

Ice Bubbles first appear in Super Mario Galaxy, mainly appearing in the cold portion of the Freezeflame Galaxy, which is also the home of their leader Baron Brrr. To defeat an Ice Bubble, Mario must use a spin or shoot a Star Bit to put out the ice cloud surrounding the enemy, causing it to fall to the ground stunned and blackened and allowing the player to kick it, releasing one coin. If the player is not quick to hit the Ice Bubble while it is vulnerable, it starts to hop around, attempting to jump into freezing water and regenerate its ice cloud. If no freezing water is present, it takes several moments for them to revive. Ice Mario is immune to their freezing, though he can still take damage from them.
