Jeans de Fillet[1] are skeletal Cheep Cheeps (albeit slightly larger than them) that live in both water and lava. They only appear in the Yoshi's Island series, debuting in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and returning in its remake Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3 and in Yoshi's New Island.

Jeans de Fillet stick their heads out of the water or lava, then jump out, knocking Yoshi away if they touch him. Yoshi cannot eat them, but they can be defeated with an egg or another object thrown at them.

Jeans de Fillet are seldomly encountered in levels. In Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Jeans de Fillet appear in two levels: The Impossible? Maze and Tap-Tap The Red Nose's Fort. In Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, they additionally appear in the Endless World of Yoshis stage. Yoshi's New Island features a Jean de Fillet boss, Furious Fred de Fillet, fought in Furious Fred de Fillet's Castle, where Jeans de Fillet are also encountered.

Their name comes from "fillet", a boneless cut of meat (usually fish). Their English name possibly references the 1986 French period drama Jean de Florette.

You can defeat them by hitting them with an egg, but it is easier to avoid them. Unlike Cheep Cheep (red), they cannot be eaten.)
