Introduction
Overview
A book is shown opening, then the four players jump onto the page. The words in the book are arranged in incomprehensible structures, comparable to lorem ipsum text.

Players try to stand under holes in the pages of a giant book they fall, one after the other. The pages move faster as gameplay continues, with fewer pages to stand under, a process that continues until only one player remains. If all players are flattened, it is a draw, though this occurs in the Mario Party: The Top 100 and Mario Party Superstars versions only if all four players are flattened at once.

Pages of the book will begin to turn (fall), so the players must find holes in the pages to avoid being flattened. Players can share a hole. As time goes on, the pages will turn much faster, and the number of holes in each page will decrease. This process continues until one character is left standing. If the last players remaining get flattened at the same time, the game is a draw.

There is also an unlockable version of Booksquirm, called Challenge Booksquirm, which can be earned by playing the original Booksquirm in a party, and can then be selected in the Extra Room. It challenges players to see how many pages they can last until their character is squashed. If the player manages to surpass 15 pages, a Goomba Plate is placed in the Minigame Room.

Booksquirm is a 4-Player minigame in Mario Party 4, Mario Party: The Top 100, and Mario Party Superstars.

Overview[edit]

Endless Booksquirm from Mario Party Superstars
Gameplay from Mario Party Superstars

Players try to stand under holes in the pages of a giant book they fall, one after the other. The pages move faster as gameplay continues, with fewer pages to stand under, a process that continues until only one player remains. If all players are flattened, it is a draw, though this occurs in the Mario Party: The Top 100 and Mario Party Superstars versions only if all four players are flattened at once.

There is an unlockable version titled Challenge Booksquirm in Mario Party 4, unlocked for the Extra Room after playing the original Booksquirm, and the goal is for the player to pass through as many pages as possible, up to 99.[1] If the player manages to surpass 15 pages, a Goomba plate is placed in the minigame Present Room. The variation was later redone as the "Endless" mode in Mario Party Superstars, following the rules of Challenge Booksquirm but ending after 999 pages.[citation needed]
