“Anyone not involved in the debate should leave! Do not get close and listen in. It's a breach of etiquette. And it's not cool.”
Technikki, Mario & Luigi: Brothership

A Big Debate is a side quest in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. In this quest, Mario and Luigi must listen in on a private conversation involving Princess Peach, Starlow, Ireen and Technikki.

A Big Debate becomes available after linking Skorcheen Island and Slippenglide Island, and expires Burnadette and Chilliam's wedding. Clearing the side quest awards a Bros. Bean and two Max Mushrooms.

Side quest

To start the side quest, Mario and Luigi must speak with Princess Peach, Starlow, Ireen and Technikki, all in a group on Shipshape Island. When spoken to, they worry that someone may be listening in their private discussion, and they all move to the beach. When talked to at the beach, they notice Mario and Luigi and push them away. Snoutlet the has the idea to listen in on the girls' debate quietly from a distance. During the discussion, they all discuss fashion, with even the Gossips and Birdo joining in.

Ireen discovers Mario, Luigi and Snoutlet were listening in on the girls' discussion during the A Big Debate side quest in Mario & Luigi: Brothership.
Mario, Luigi and Snoutlet discovered by Ireen

When the debate ends, Mario, Luigi and Snoutlet come out from humdinger and celebrate with them all, much to the annoyance of Ireen, who orders the girls to leave with her. Starlow stays behind to scold the three for listening in on the conversation even though they were told not to. Afterwards, she tells the three that the girls have all got them something (the quest reward) and excitedly proclaims that the next debate should be about Mario and Luigi's fashion. Starlow flies away, and the side quest is complete.
