Spring Vaults[1] are purple, spring-like robots that appear in Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel, Super Mario Galaxy 2. They act as both enemies and helpful objects. Their main attack involves them sending circular lasers in the area around them, but their heads can be jumped on and used as a spring, allowing Mario or Luigi to reach areas he otherwise would not be able to reach, similar to the Jump Guarder and Spring Topmen.

Super Mario Galaxy
Spring Vaults first appear in Super Mario Galaxy, making their debut in the Flipswitch Galaxy, where one guards the Power Star, deactivating and simply acting as a spring once Mario activates all 18 Flipswitch Panels. They also appear in the Battlerock Galaxy and the Dreadnought Galaxy. Spring Vaults are stationary enemies that fire lasers in a circular shockwave formation, which will damage Mario or Luigi if he makes contact with them. They cannot be destroyed by any means, but they are able to be stunned by either jumping on top of their heads or firing a Star Bit at them. If Mario or Luigi jumps on top of a Spring Vault twice, the spring beneath its head becomes exposed and it can be used as a Springboard. Spring Vaults have a variation with spikes and a golden frame that cannot be jumped on but otherwise has their general behavior patterns.
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Spring Vaults reappear in Super Mario Galaxy 2, behaving identically to their first appearance. Only one appears in the game, being present in the Space Storm Galaxy.
