Mr. Mayor,[1] as he is referred to as by Princess Toadstool, is a mustached Mushroomer who inhabits a village in the Swiss Cheese Alps, which he is the mayor of.
In The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! episode "Koopenstein", Mr. Mayor, when Mario, Luigi, Toad and Princess Toadstool arrive in the village, presents them with the key to the village in a show of appreciation for them having come to defeat Dr. Koopenstein. After giving this key to Princess Toadstool the village key, Mr. Mayor leads the cheer for Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Princess Toadstool after they promise to do their best in defeating Dr. Koopenstein.
Later on, after Dr. Koopenstein is transformed into the Koopenstein Monster and abducts Princess Toadstool, Mr. Mayor frantically runs to tell Mario, Luigi, and Toad that the Koopenstein Monster is attacking his village; after alerting Mario, Luigi, and Toad to this, Mr. Mayor leads them to the village, where the Koopenstein Monster is going on a rampage. Mr. Mayor apparently stands on the sidelines or takes cover when Mario, Luigi, and Toad begin their battle with the Koopenstein Monster, as he is not seen in the entire duration of the battle.
When the Koopenstein Monster and Mouser are defeated by Mario and Dr. Koopenstein's own Monster Robot Troopa, Mr. Mayor presents Mario with a reward for his help in saving the Swiss Cheese Alps, a pizza covered in hole-filled cheese, which Mario thinks are bite marks.
