The Bowser Monument[1] (known as Lava Bowser[2] in Super Nintendo World) is an animate object in Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. It is a giant Bowser Statue and the centerpiece of Bowser's Castle. As the racers drive past it, the Bowser Monument punches the track, sending ripples through it that can be used for tricks. The track splits into two, with the Bowser Monument in the middle of both paths, and it alternatively punches a Dash Panel on each side of the track.
The Bowser Monument also appears in the Grumble Volcano area of the Super Nintendo World attraction Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge,[3] where attendees need to throw shells to destroy it.
The Bowser Monument greatly resembles the other large Bowser Statues from Mario Kart 64 as well as Mecha Bowser from Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and Mario Kart Wii, except it is intermixed with lava and punches instead of shooting fire.
