Brobot
- “That is my DEAR metal brother. He and I share a spiritual bond, you know.”
- —Mr. L, Super Paper Mario
Brobot is Mr. L's gigantic robot in Super Paper Mario. He is created to be shaped like Luigi's head. After Mr. L loses to Mario and his team in combat, Mr. L summons his giant robotic brother and fights Mario's team in a battle oddly similar to scrolling space shooters such as Gradius. Once he loses, Mr. L vows to face Mario again. He has kept his promise, for he comes back in Chapter 6-1, after Sammer's Kingdom gets destroyed by The Void. His new improved Brobot L-Type has arms and legs this time and is more powerful, able to swallow Mario and fire rocket punches at him. However, Mario uses Boomer to destroy Brobot.
Combat
In battle, the first Brobot fires homing missiles and straight shots at the party. The missiles can be destroyed by shooting them. Occasionally he uses a laser attack that projects from his eyeballs, but this can be dodged by flipping. He can open his mechanical mouth wide and inhale to try and suck the player in, then chomps on them. Brobot L-type has very similar maneuvers, as well as the abilities of stomping and grabbing. If the player places boomer in range of his inhale attack, the pixl would be sucked inside and explode, doing a hefty amount of damage.
Trivia
- Brobot's name is a portmanteau of "bro" (a slang for "brother") and "robot".
- Besides Shadoo, Brobot is the boss with the most HP in the Game, even more than the final boss Super Dimentio. Surprisingly, he has more HP than his improved form. However, Squirps' laser does damage very quickly, counteracting the high HP.
- The Brobot is the Magnus Von Grapple of Super Paper Mario. Magnus Von Grapple has an evolved form, and Brobot has one too.
- Brobot has the same name as the The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius episode and character Brobot. Brobots also appeared in the Phineas and Ferb episode 'I, Brobot' as Phinedroids and Ferbots.
- Its health amount may be a reference to the data storage abilities of classic consoles: a maximum of 255.
