The Koopa Cruiser is Bowser's personal airship that is used in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, and Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions.
History[edit]
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga / Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions[edit]
In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, the Koopa Cruiser was used to transport Mario, Luigi, Bowser and the Bowser Baddies to the Beanbean Kingdom while the Mario Bros. and Bowser were temporarily working together to regain Princess Peach's voice from Cackletta. Aboard the cruiser, the Mario Bros. have their passport photos taken by a Koopa photographer in order to cross the border. The Cruiser's Pinch Crane takes Luigi to above deck where he is later joined by his brother. Above deck, the Mario Bros. and Bowser confront Cackletta after catching up to her where they are introduced to her henchman Fawful. After the battle against Fawful, he summons a Vacuum Helmet and uses it to shoot fireballs at the Koopa Cruiser, heavily damaging it and causing it to crash down to Stardust Fields. If the Mario Bros. speak to the battered crew of Koopas, one of them says that they had not finished paying it off.
The Cruiser is later used by Bowletta and Fawful; it is still heavily damaged, but repaired just enough to be functional. The evil duo kidnapped Princess Peach (who turned out to be Luigi in disguise) and the Beanstar in order to awaken it using the princess's voice. Their attempt was unsuccessful because Luigi stalled them with help from the Koopa Cruiser's Pinch Crane and managed to not only escape but also returned the Beanstar to Beanbean Castle. It is unknown what happens to the Koopa Cruiser after the events of the game.
In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions, the role of the Koopa Cruiser retains its role from the original game, but is expanded upon in Minion Quest: The Search for Bowser. At the start of the mode, the Koopa Cruiser crashes, separating Bowser's minions. After the Teehee Valley missions are completed, the Lakitu finds the ruined Koopa Cruiser in Joke's End during the mission Gather the Cruiser Parts!. The minions to search the area for replacement parts, and get it repaired by the time of the mission Return of the Koopa Cruiser, though Roy Koopa battles the minions after it is fixed. In The Trio's Last Stand, Private Goomp, Corporal Paraplonk, and Sergeant Guy place a bomb on the Koopa Cruiser, and they must be defeated to deactivate it. The minions then use the Koopa Cruiser to reach Bowser's Castle. Afterward, when Captain Goomba sees Bowser in a present attached to Peach's plane and wonders what to do, Captain Boo mentions that flying after it is impossible since they don’t have the Koopa Cruiser anymore, implying it was blown up along with Bowser's Castle.
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time[edit]
- “Time to show these alien jerks what the Koopa Cruiser can do!”
- —Baby Bowser, Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time
In Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, another Koopa Cruiser appears, which is used to evacuate Baby Bowser, Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Baby Peach and the young Toadsworth from Peach's Castle after it was attacked by Shroob saucers. The saucers later attacked the cruiser while it was in the air, causing Baby Mario to panic and Baby Luigi and Baby Peach to cry, forcing it to drop altitude over Hollijolli Village. Baby Bowser is coaxed into rescuing Mario and Luigi from the Shroobs and the adult brothers are brought aboard. As the cruiser flies over Peach's Castle, which had been captured by the Shroobs and was then called Shroob Castle, Princess Shroob launched a Shroob missile that shot down the cruiser sending it crashing into Baby Bowser's Castle.
It is unknown whether this Koopa Cruiser is the same as the one in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga; Bowser calls the latter one a "new weapon", suggesting it was built from scratch. It has the ability to fire spiked cannonballs, but quickly ran out of ammo just before the Shroob missile strikes it.
The player cannot open Stuffwell while on the Koopa Cruiser.
