Banana Cup
The Banana Cup comprises four courses, each of which is taken from the nitro cups of previous Mario Kart games: the Mushroom Cup, Flower Cup, Star Cup and, since Mario Kart 8, also the Special Cup. The cup's symbol is a Banana Peel, and the cup's tracks are slightly more difficult and/or longer when compared to those of the Shell Cup. Its length and difficultly is on par with the Flower Cup. However, in Mario Kart DS the banana cup is harder than the flower cup due to using tracks that are less difficult. The Banana Cup also returns in Mario Tennis Open for the Nintendo 3DS. It appears after the Flower Cup and before the Champions Cup

Mario Tennis Open
In Mario Tennis Open, the Banana Cup is the third cup in the World Open series. It is played on the DK Jungle court. This cup can be unlocked by beating the Flower Cup, and once beaten will unlock the Champions Cup. The CPU difficulty is one step harder than that of the Flower Cup's.

Trivia
- Like the Shell and Leaf Cups, this cup always had a course from Mario Kart 64.
- Like the Shell Cup in Mario Kart Wii and 8, the Mario Kart DS and 7 versions of the Banana Cup have two Mushroom Cup courses and two Flower Cup courses each.
- The Banana Cup in Mario Kart 8 is the only cup in the game for all courses to take place in the daytime, and is the only Banana Cup so far to have this trait. It is also the first (and so far only) Banana Cup to not have any Flower Cup courses, having in fact three courses that appeared originally in higher-tier cups.
- In Mario Kart 8, this is one of two cups to use the same character as Staff Ghosts in two tracks of the same cup (being Peach in Dry Dry Desert and Royal Raceway), the other being the Egg Cup.
- Mario Kart 7's Banana Cup is the only cup that doesn't contain a course from Mario Kart: Double Dash!!. Similarly, Mario Kart Wii's Banana Cup is the only cup that doesn't contain a course from Super Mario Kart.
