A Blarggwich,[1] originally known as a Support Ghost,[2] is a monochrome, Flatbed Ferry-topped Blargg that first appeared in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
History
Yoshi's Island series
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island / Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3
Support Ghosts are rare, appearing in Sluggy The Unshaven's Fort only. A Yoshi can jump onto and freely move around atop the Flatbed Ferry carried on a Support Ghost's head. Once stepped on, it moves along a set course, occasionally stopping and stretching upward, leading the Yoshi to both traps and helpful items. A similar creature known as the liquid lift appears earlier in Salvo The Slime's Castle, and it is a water spirit that is thinner, lacks eyebrows, has smaller eyes, and moves in a gentle loop in a big room.
Yoshi's New Island
Blarggwiches reappear in Yoshi's New Island under their current name. One is featured as the main gimmick of the third world's special level, Ride the Blarggwich. A variant between two Flatbed Ferries also appears in Count Fang's Castle.
Super Smash Bros. series
Blarggwiches return in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, where they appear in the stage Yoshi's Island. This type perpetually acts as an extra platform over a deep pit, and players can jump onto it to avoid falling. However, it appears only at random moments.
