The Barribad is an enemy in Super Paper Mario. It is encountered in the Whoa Zone. Its name is derived from "barrier", referring to its method of protection, and is also a pun on "very bad". It appears similar to the Yux species from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, and due to this and the similar Japanese names, is likely inspired by Yux. The Barribad projects an impenetrable barrier around itself when Mario, Princess Peach, Bowser, or Luigi approach, and shoots rings of energy at them. However, by flipping to 3D, the player can go around the barrier, switch to 2D, and defeat it. An alternative is to use Pixl Barry, which will reflect the energy back at them and destroy them, Thoreau to pick it up and throw it at a wall, or Fleep to daze it for a few moments, then attack the Barribad before it recovers. Another way to defeat it is to use Bowser to breathe fire at it. The last known method of defeating it is to use Slim and walk towards the Barribad as the force field fades, at that point which the Barribad will form the force field around the player and itself, allowing the player to defeat it inside its own force field. Only one is found in the game, making it and the Dark Barribad the rarest enemies in Super Paper Mario.
