Chapter 8-1: The Impending Darkness
At the end of this chapter, O'Chunks and Bowser engage in battle, with the latter emerging victorious. However, there is little chance for celebration, as The Void begins to affect the structural integrity of the castle. The entire structure rumbles, and the ceiling begins to collapse. O'Chunks at first struggles to bear the weight of the ceiling alone, but Bowser soon aids him. Mario and the others then feel another tremor and are unable to return to the previous room (having advanced forward before the confrontation), forced to continue on their trek through the castle without knowing the fate of either Bowser or O'Chunks.
