Bonechill is the third-to-last boss in Super Paper Mario. He can fire ice bullets from the large cannon he sits upon, and he has icy breath that can make icicles on the ceiling. He has 80 HP and an attack of 4. He was stuck in an unknown prison in The Underwhere along with a Skellobit army. Count Bleck set him free to defeat Mario (who was the hero of legend as told in the Light Prognosticus) and steal Luvbi (who was actually a Pure Heart); he failed and was shattered to bits. It is implied that he was once a Nimbi, particularly by his speech, the small white wings on his back and his tattle.
Bonechill is a minor villain in Super Paper Mario and the boss of Chapter 7. He is an undead dragon with a large, blue-scaled head, six small, white-feathered wings on his back, and a large golden cannon with two wheels for a lower body. He is the leader of the Skellobit army and attempts a takeover of The Overthere. According to The InterNed, his theme is called "Bonechill Appears".

Tippi's tattle says that Bonechill may have once been a Nimbi, which is supported by the fact that he has feathered wings on his back. This fits into the overall motif of The Underwhere and The Overthere, which draw heavily from both Ancient Greek mythology and the Christian religion. In particular, the concept of a fallen angel (Nimbi) is inspired by the Biblical story of Lucifer, who became the devil after betraying God. Furthermore, in Dante's Inferno (of the epic Italian poem, the Divine Comedy), Lucifer (now known as Satan) is depicted as a giant, six-winged beast imprisoned in ice in the deepest circle of Hell. This is all paralleled by how Bonechill has six wings, was imprisoned deep below the Underwhere, and is a self-styled "master of the cold dark" who uses ice breath to attack and is "something of an evil celebrity in certain circles of the Underwhere". Similarly, his being released during an apocalyptic event (the emergence of The Void) may be derived from the Book of Revelation, where Satan escapes from hell and he and his army are battled and defeated in heaven.

History
In battle, Bonechill has only two moves: His freezing breath; and a cannon that shoots lumps of ice. If he freezes the one of the heroes with his breath they will start taking 4 damage points a second, which is larger than any other freezing power in the game. He can also use his breath to freeze the ceiling to create icicles that will fall to damage the player if they are standing underneath. These icicles can be picked up and thrown with Thoreau at Bonechill's head to damage him.
Before the outset of Super Paper Mario, Bonechill and his army were trapped in a prison below The Underwhere. He later escaped with his army due to an earthquake and attempted to seize the power of the Pure Heart for himself. Ultimately, Bonechill failed in his attempt to destroy the Heroes of Light and seize control of The Overthere and The Underwhere, as his army was defeated and he himself was shattered to bits by Mario and his companions.

Bonechill's second attack is to fire blocks of ice from his cannon. They can be easily avoided, but can also be thrown to damage him. When he takes damage, blocks will fall off his face. Bonechill can also be defeated by using Luigi's Super Jump technique, if the player aims for the head. It is possible to defeat him with only one use of this attack.
In battle, Bonechill fires large ice bullets from his cannon and attempts to freeze the heroes with his icy breath. If he freezes one of the heroes, they will start taking four HP of damage per second, the highest amount of freezing damage in the game. Bonechill can also use his breath on the ceiling to create icicles that will fall and damage the player if they are standing underneath. Bonechill's only vulnerable point is his head, which is out of range for most of the player's conventional attacks. However, Thoreau can be used to grab the ice bullets and icicles, allowing the player to throw them at Bonechill's head for damage. Bonechill can also be defeated by using Luigi's super jump technique below his head.

Personality
Profiles and statistics
While his personality is not shown as much as that of others, there are some defining traits. Bonechill speaks eloquently (a possible hint of his former Nimbi status) and is somewhat arrogant. He looks with disdain upon the Nimbis, and is quick to let loose with his signature "Brrrrooo ha ha ha ha..." laugh.
Super Paper Mario
It is unclear whether he is connected to Count Bleck, or simply trying to prevent Mario from taking the Pure Heart as thanks for being freed from  The Underwhere.

*The concept of an Nimbi/Angel becoming a devilish creature is somewhat similar to the fallen Angel Lucifer from the Bible, who became the devil after betraying God. Also, note that in Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy, Lucifer (or Satan) is imprisoned in ice in the deepest level of Hell.
*Bonechill is one of the two bosses in the game whose looks change as the player damages him; his scales begin to fall off as his HP declines. The other is Mimi, who gradually loses her legs over the course of the battle.
*In the Japanese version, he put the phrase "zansu" at the end of every sentence. "Zansu" is an archaic auxiliary verb meaning "to be".

*Bonechill bears a similarity to Cortez, as they are both ghost-like, they both sit atop something (a cannon and a bone pile, respectively) and they both talk ghost-like too.

*Bonechill's Skellobits appearing in Castle Bleck may mean that he is affiliated with Count Bleck's Army. Or the Skellobits may have been brainwashed by Nastasia.

Bonechill, Super Paper Mario

History[edit]

Before the outset of Super Paper Mario, Bonechill and his army were trapped in a prison below The Underwhere. He later escaped with his army due to an earthquake and attempted to seize the power of the Pure Heart for himself. Ultimately, Bonechill failed in his attempt to destroy the Heroes of Light and seize control of The Overthere and The Underwhere, as his army was defeated and he himself was shattered to bits by Mario and his companions.
