Spiky Tom and Spiky John are two identical Koopatrols guarding Peach's Castle during the events of Paper Mario. They appear during Princess Peach's intermission segment before Chapter 6. One of them spots Peach as she enters the room, but is convinced by Mr. Hammer to let her participate in the 64th Trivia Quiz-Off.
During the quiz, Spiky Tom sits in the pink booth, and will answer some questions before Peach gets the chance to, giving away information the player has not learned yet. Spiky John sits in the blue booth, and will only answer questions if the player does not answer in time.
After the quiz, both of them walk away in opposite directions, with Spiky John seemingly leaving the room while Spiky Tom remains inside. After Bowser barges into the room and spots Princess Peach, she is carried back to her room by Spiky Tom and Mr. Hammer. Neither is seen again after.
