Skorcheen Island is a volcanic island in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. Its name is derived from "scorching", and it is found drifting in the Brrrning Sea. When Skorcheen Island becomes accessible, Mario and Luigi have the option to connect it or Slippenglide Island in either order. Throughout the island, Bomb Buds can be found which are ignited upon being plucked from the ground and explode shortly after.
History[edit]
After Heatfreeze Island is connected, Mario and Luigi are informed that Dr. Vulko of Skorcheen Island might have a cure to Glohm that had recently infected Chilliam after an encounter with the Extension Corps on Shipshape Island. After deciding to look for Dr. Vulko first before looking for the Extension Corps on Slippenglide Island, the Bros. head to Skorcheen Island. Upon arriving on the island and asking for Dr. Vulko's whereabouts, they told by a resident of the island that Burnadette's dad, chief of the island, might know and that he is in the village. After finding the chief and having a chat with him, they are told to head north to find Dr. Vulko's lab. When they get there, however, they find that it has been rendered inaccessible after the Connectar Flowers which gave access to the lab stopped blooming. They are then tasked with linking the island in order to make the Connectar Flowers bloom.
Upon arriving to the entrance of a cave, Mario and Luigi meet a group of Bob-ombs who were seemingly split from their group that they have to fight after a short talk. After defeating the group and entering the cave, they find themselves blocked by magma and learn the UFO Vacuum Bros. Move to continue on. After stopping the magma flow which prevented them from accessing the Lighthouse, they find a group of three of Bowser's Minions, a Hammer Bro, a Fire Bro and an Ice Bro. Initially defensive towards the Bros., they seem to understand the situation after a talk with them, bid farewell with them only to reveal they were faking it and that they wouldn't pass on the opportunity to take down Mario and Luigi, from which a fight ensues. After defeating the group, Mario & Luigi access the lighthouse and connect Skorcheen Island to Shipshape Island.
When Reclusa awakens, Mario and Luigi return to Skorcheen Island to collect Chilliam and Burnadette's Bond. They find the two praying to the sky to save the people of the island from the flowers which trap them into their own fantasies. Burnadette expresses her worry that the sky may not hear her prayers, but after Chilliam reassures her, their bond appears and is collected into Connie's Bonding Can. Mario and Luigi are then gifted the Max-Mix Vortex Bros. Attack and continue on their quest to collect bonds.
