A Blow Hard[1] is a Pokey that fires smaller yellow Pokeys at a Yoshi in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (and its reissue), Yoshi's Island DS, and Yoshi's New Island. Despite being a Pokey, it more closely resembles a Piranha Plant due to its spherical spotted head and large lips. It always faces a Yoshi and has a blinking crosshair to tell where it is firing. Any solid objects and platforms can stop its projectiles. It is nearly invincible, but a Yoshi can pound the ground nearby or throw an egg at it to temporarily knock it out; however, it wakes up a few seconds later. It can be defeated entirely in the first game with a blue watermelon or red watermelon.

Although Blow Hards spit yellow Pokeys, their artwork for Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island depicts them spitting green ones instead.

Profiles[edit]

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island / Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3[edit]

[2] (It spits out cacti, but the hit rate is poor. If you hit it with an egg or do a Hip Drop near it, it will faint.)
  • Player's Guide: They spit prickly seeds with painful accuracy. Stun them with an egg, then dash before they can revive.[1]
[3] (When you approach it, an X-shaped target appears, and it attacks by spewing out Needlenoses. It cannot be defeated, but if you hit it with an egg or Hip Drop it nearby, it will be stunned.)

Yoshi's New Island[edit]

[4] (A Pokey with polka dots. After placing its cursor on you, it will send bombs at you. You can stun it for a few seconds by striking it with a Hip Drop shock or an egg.)
