- —Kamek, Yoshi's Woolly World
Knot-Wing the Koopa is an enlarged Koopa Paratroopa boss in Yoshi's Woolly World. He serves as the mid-boss of World 2. He also reappears in World 4 and World 6. In all three battles, his primary attacks are Ground Pounding and dashing inside his shell. Knot-Wing the Koopa may be a winged homage to Hookbill the Koopa, a boss from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Both Knot-Wing and Hookbill are red Koopa Troopas that are enlarged by Kamek, with their shells being particularly larger than the rest of their respective bodies. They share a similar naming scheme in both English and Japanese as well.
Battles[edit]
Knot-Wing the Koopa's Fort (Level 2-4)[edit]
In World 2, Yoshi can defeat Knot-Wing by licking the knot on his neck at the right time when he is on the ground, while he is performing his Ground Pound attacks. After doing so, Knot-Wing flips over onto his back, exposing the bandages on his underside, allowing Yoshi to attack him with a Ground Pound.
Knot-Wing the Koopa's Aqua Fort (Level 4-4)[edit]
- “You're getting tired now, aren't you? EEEEEEEEK! How about you take a quick shower and COOL OFF?!”
- —Kamek, Yoshi's Woolly World
In World 4, Yoshi must allow Knot-Wing to slam into a broken part of the bridge, which accidentally causes him to touch the spikes at the bottom of the water and flip over to reveal his weak spot.
Knot-Wing the Koopa's Sky Fort (Level 6-4)[edit]
- “Think I'm letting you get past here? Well, think again! My friend here should help you get your head out of the clouds! Hee hee hee!”
- —Kamek, Yoshi's Woolly World
In World 6, Knot-Wing can only be defeated when the Bill Blaster on his back is hit with a yarn ball thrown by Yoshi instead of untying a knot on his neck. Knot-Wing's wings can be lost, though he regains them, unlike Koopa Paratroopas.
Boss Tent[edit]
All three boss battles with Knot-Wing can be replayed in the Boss Tent.
