Rocky Road is a 2-vs.-2 minigame found in Mario Party 6, Mario Party: The Top 100, and Mario Party Superstars. The name is a reference to an idiom that describes a person's difficult journey to success as well as the ice cream flavor with the same name.

There are only aesthetic changes between daytime and nighttime in Mario Party 6. Only the daytime version appears in Mario Party: The Top 100 and Mario Party Superstars.

Introduction[edit]

A Shy Guy (in Mario Party 6) or Toad (in Mario Party: The Top 100 and Mario Party Superstars) is driving a car along the road, then he stops when it pulls up to the first set of boulders.

Gameplay[edit]

Both teams have to destroy the boulders blocking the path on the way so the car will advance. Players must be careful not to accidentally hit the other player; in Mario Party 6, accidentally hit players are stunned. If one player is stunned when the team can advance, the one player stands in front of the car and must wait for their teammate to recover. There are five sets of boulders to pass through: two small ones at the beginning, followed by one small boulder, then three small boulders, then two medium boulders, and finally one giant boulder. The team that reaches the end of the road first wins. The minigame ends in a tie if five minutes pass.

Ending[edit]

The winners continue down the road in their car while waving out the window. In Mario Party: The Top 100 and Mario Party Superstars, Toadette, who is waiting at the end, hops in the car before Toad drives off. In Mario Party 6, if the minigame ends in a tie, the players do not perform their losing animations.
