The Great Deflate is a 2-vs-2 minigame in Mario Party 4 and Mario Party: The Top 100. Its name is a pun on the term "the Great Debate."
Introduction[edit]
At a beach, an inflatable Thwomp falls onto the ground, and the camera zooms out, revealing a second inflatable Thwomp as the teams land on each respective one. In Mario Party: The Top 100, the Thwomps have their modern facial expression.
Gameplay[edit]
Players must ground-pound an inflatable blue Thwomp enough to completely deflate it. The higher the jump before the Ground Pound, the more air that gets deflated. In Mario Party 4, when players ground-pound the Thwomps, the latter's sound effect increases in pitch. The first team to completely deflate its Thwomp wins. If neither team has completely deflated its Thwomp within 30 seconds, the minigame ends in a tie.
Ending[edit]
In Mario Party 4, the winning team's members do their winning animations while the losing team's members do their losing animations.
