Double Pounder is a Bowser Jr. minigame in Mario Party 9. Its name is likely a reference to the Quarter Pounder, a hamburger sold by the fast-food chain McDonald's.

Introduction[edit]

Bowser Jr. does a taunting dance from his platform. The camera then zooms out to show the players as well.

Gameplay[edit]

The players must try to simultaneously ground-pound switches of the same color. In order for a color switch to be activated, the players need to sync up their movements so that they ground-pound the switches at the same time. Whenever a switch is activated, a lava spout in the background hardens into a metal platform, making Bowser Jr. look nervous. If all four pairs of switches are activated within 30 seconds, the players win. If the players do not activate all the switches before the timer runs out, Bowser Jr. wins.

Ending[edit]

If the players are successful, a gate behind Bowser Jr. will open. He will then run off into a tunnel, and the players will hop along the platforms, giving chase. If they are unsuccessful, the floor will fill up with lava and knock the players away, after which Bowser Jr. will cackle.

Trivia[edit]

  • This is the only Bowser Jr. minigame where the players suffer any physical harm if Bowser Jr. wins. In all other scenarios, they only groan if they lose, if they react at all.
