The Overthere is a place visited in the latter half of Chapter 7 of Super Paper Mario. It is essentially the opposite of The Underwhere, and is the land where people who lived sinless lives spend their afterlife. It is ruled by Grambi. While the Underwhere is clearly based on the Greek underworld, the Overthere bears more resemblance to Heaven, rather than the Elysian Fields of Greek mythology: it is a land of clouds, and its residents are the angelic Nimbis, who speak in pseudo-Elizabethan English (reminiscent of the language found in the King James Bible). The only way to reach The Overthere is via the Overthere Stair, a series of clouds and Jump-Over Clouds leading up from Underwhere Road. According to The InterNed, the music in the Overthere and the Overthere Stair is simply titled "Overthere Stair". There is an Itty Bits shop in The Overthere, located near the Rainbow Bridge. At some point shortly before the heroes' arrival in the dimension, Bonechill, a self-proclaimed "master of the cold dark" and a fallen Nimbi (a reference to the story of Lucifer), and his army of Skellobits were released from their prison in The Underwhere. They escaped from the dark realm and laid siege on the Overthere in an attempt to capture the Pure Heart said to be held by Grambi. As Bonechill took over Grambi's abode, the Skellobits, reaching as far as the upper reaches of the Overthere Stair, attacked and imprisoned the Nimbis and destroyed the rainbow bridge leading to Grambi's sanctuary.

As Bonechill took over Grambi's abode, the Skellobits, reaching as far as the upper reaches of the Overthere Stair, attacked and imprisoned the Nimbis and destroyed the rainbow bridge leading to Grambi's sanctuary.

As Mario, Princess Peach, Bowser, Luigi arrive, they learn from Luvbi that Grambi is her father. Luvbi then talks about how overprotective her parents are and Tippi suggests that the party move on in an attempt to shut her up. The level begins with a few clouds and a shrine, where a Skellobit lies. To the right of the shrine is a Skellobomber and a cloud moving up toward a Skellobit and Spiky Skellobit. To the right is a cloud moving side to side, toward another shrine, a sign reading "Overthere Sector 1", and a locked door. Beneath the shrine is another Skellobomber, several ? Blocks, one containg a Mushroom and another a Speed Flower, and a door leading to Sector 2. Through the door, the heroes find two Skellobits tormenting a Nimbi (Sunbi). The heroes save the Nimbi, who gives them the key to the previously mentioned locked door.

The heroes save Sunbi, who gives them the key to the previously mentioned locked door.

The next area holds yet another locked door and another shrine next to a Save Block. To the right is a Skellobit, a flip block that can be used to hit a ? Block in 3D, and a Nimbi standing next to her frozen boyfriend, Novbi. Bowser frees Novbi with his Fire Breath and in thanks, he activates the Overator. The heroes move through a door into Sector 4, finding a large shrine, on top of which is an Itty Bits shop, and several frozen Nimbi, including Whibbi. Whibbi tells the heroes that the rainbow bridge leading to Grambi's shrine has been destroyed. in order to rebuild it, the heroes must find Rebbi, Blubbi and Yebbi, the holders of three colored orbs. He gives the heroes the key to the locked door in Sector 3, allowing them access to Sector 5.

In Sector 2, there is a horizontally moving Overator, activated with a red Switch Block. To the far right is a shrine containing a door and an army of 3D Skellobits and Spiky Skellobits. There is a Shooting Star on top of the shrine. The door leads to Sector 8, containing some floating pillars, Boomerang Bros., a Slow Flower, and a Nimbi playing dead. There is another door behind the shrine in Sector 5, leading to Sector 7 and accessed via 3D. In Sector 7, the heroes find Rebbi battling some Skellobits. To the far left of Sector 5 is some more clouds, a Skellobit and Skellobomber and a door leading to Sector 6. In Sector 6, there are some pillars and ? Blocks, one of which contains a Mushroom. By flipping, Mario finds some clouds leading to another area, filled with blocks and various types of Skellobit, as well as a Mega Star. At the end of this stretch is a another bridge of clouds leading back to the other side of the main area, where the heroes find a bathroom stall. To find Blubbi, the heroes return to Sector 2, where they saved Sunbi. The area contains several pillars, Skellobombers, Skellobaits and a Cursya. The pillar to the farthest right is actually a pipe, leading to an underground room containing a Gigabite. Upon the Gigabite's defeat, a chest containing Cooking Disk PU will appear. The player ascends some clouds, finding another Skellobomber and some blocks containing a Super Shroom and a Ghoul Shroom. At the top, Blubbi is found frozen. Upon being freed by Bowser, Blubbi realizes that he has lost his memory, which will only return if the heroes have spoken to Whibbi. Upon remembering who he is, Blubbi yields the blue orb.

The Overthere is a place visited in the second half of Chapter 7 of Super Paper Mario. Its most notable item in stock is the Hot Sauce, and it also sells Hot Dogs.

Chapter 7-4: A Bone-Chilling Tale[edit]

Storyline text

White clouds as far as the eye could see...

Mario and Co. had climbed through the clouds and finally reached The Overthere.

"Odd. No party springeth forth welcometh us," wondered Luvbi aloud.

"It mattereth not. Father's shrine is just ahead, so we can walk there with ease."

But they would not arrive at the shrine as easily as Luvbi predicted.

Why not? Because something unexpected and dramatic was about to happen...

At some point shortly before the heroes' arrival in the dimension, Bonechill, a self-proclaimed "master of the cold dark" and a fallen Nimbi (a reference to the story of Lucifer), and his army of Skellobits were released from their prison in The Underwhere due to an earthquake.

As Mario, Princess Peach, Bowser, and Luigi arrive, they learn from Luvbi that Grambi is her father. Through the door, the heroes find two Skellobits tormenting a Nimbi named Sunbi.

Bowser frees Novbi with his Fire Breath and in thanks, he activates the Overvator. Using the Overvator, the heroes are able to move upward, where they find two more Nimbis frozen. The heroes move through a door into Sector 4, finding a large shrine, on top of which is an Itty Bits shop, and several frozen Nimbis, including Whibbi. Whibbi tells the heroes that the rainbow bridge leading to Grambi's shrine has been destroyed. in order to rebuild it, the heroes must find Rebbi, Blubi and Yebbi, the holders of three colored orbs. He gives the heroes the key to the locked door in Sector 3, allowing them access to Sector 5.

In Sector 5, there is a horizontally moving Overvator, activated with a red Switch Block. After helping defeat the assailants, Rebbi gives the heroes his Red Orb. Also in Sector 7 is a large chest far below, containing a Nimbi apparently practicing an escape act. The Nimbi gives the heroes an Ultra Shroom Shake.

At the end of this stretch is another bridge of clouds, leading back to the other side of the main area, where the heroes find a bathroom stall. The person inside asks if the Skellobits are gone and then asks the player's name, to which they can answer Mario, Peach, Bowser, Luigi (depending on the current player character), Grambi, or a monster. If the player claims to be Grambi or any of the playable characters, the person assumes that they are a monster trying to trick them. If the player says that they are a monster, the person will realizes that no monster would admit who they were and comes out, revealing himself to be Yebbi, who gives them a Yellow Orb.

To find Blubi, the heroes return to Sector 2, where they saved Sunbi. The area contains several pillars, Skellobombers, Skellobaits and a Cursya. The pillar to the farthest right is actually a pipe, leading to an underground room containing a Gigabite. Upon the Gigabite's defeat, a chest containing Cooking Disk PU will appear. Back in Sector 2, there is a ? Block containing Pal Pills is above the pipe. The player ascends some clouds, finding another Skellobomber and some blocks containing a Super Shroom and a Ghoul Shroom. At the top, Blubi is found frozen. Upon being freed by Bowser, Blubi realizes that he has lost his memory, which will only return if the heroes have spoken to Whibbi. Upon remembering who he is, Blubi yields the Blue Orb.

Back in Sector 4, the heroes place the orbs on a platform to the far right, creating a new rainbow bridge out of blocks. This allows them to cross over to Grambi's shrine. Once the bridge is reconstructed, the heroes and Luvbi encounter a Spiky Skellobit. In response to Luvbi asking whether Grambi is fine and threatening to hurt the Skellobit if he is not, the Skellobit summons an army mostly made of Skellobombers to challenge them. However, it is then that Rebbi and an army of Nimbis (referred to as the Nimbi Brigade) show up to take care of the Skellobits. While the battle takes place, the heroes are able to defeat the Spiky Skellobit and a few other Skellobits and access Grambi's palace.

Shocked, Luvbi confronts Grambi but is then ordered by Tippi to get him to safety while the heroes combat and defeat Bonechill. After the ice king disintegrates, Queen Jaydes arrives and Luvbi confronts her parents about her identity. Following an heated exchange between the three of them, Luvbi becomes resigned to her fate and assumes her Pure Heart form, asking Mario and co. to save all worlds as her dying wish.

Storyline text

"Heroes... My daughter wanted thee to save all worlds. 'Twas her final wish."

Grambi spoke slowly through his tears as the brave Nimbis cleaned up The Overthere.

Draped in sadness, Queen Jaydes walked slowly to her palace in The Underwhere.

Mario, his friends, and the eighth Pure Heart were all that remained...

This Pure Heart had come at a high price. Let us hope it was all worthwhile.

If the player revisits The Overthere after defeating Bonechill, the enemies that once appeared in Chapter 7-4 will not appear again, with the exception of the Ghoul Shroom contained within one of the blocks and the Gigabite present in the secret area.
