Bowser's Big Blast is a luck-based Battle minigame in Mario Party 2 (where it is stylized as BOWSER's Big Blast) and a Free-for-All minigame in Mario Party: The Top 100 and Mario Party Superstars.
Introduction
A massive Bowser bomb is screwed into place by a mechanical arm, and the camera zooms out. The four characters enter the room it is in and get in line (with the exception of the first player up to press a switch) while the switches appear. The minigame then begins.
Gameplay
The players take turns pressing down the switches connected to the Bowser bomb. There are five switches in different colors: red, purple, yellow, green, and white. After a player presses a switch, the minigame decides whether they are safe or not. If steam comes out of the bomb's "nostrils," the player is safe and moves to the end of the line. However, if the wrong switch is pressed, the bomb's eyes count down from three, eliminating the player when it explodes. If everyone presses down a switch that does not set off the bomb, a new set of switches appears. Each time a player is eliminated, the number of switches decreases by one until there are only three left. The minigame continues until there is only one player left, and that player is declared the winner.
In Mario Party: The Top 100, the explosion of the bomb is more detailed. The characters also breathe a sigh of relief if the bomb does not explode or take cover if it does.
In Mario Party Superstars, along with the animations added in The Top 100's variant being present here as well, the characters vocalize whenever they press a switch, and they hold their breath after they choose a switch. Additionally, if a character chooses a wrong switch, they panic before the bomb explodes. The bomb also takes a slightly longer time to explode like in Bowser's Bigger Blast from Mario Party 4, and it emits electricity and turns bright white when it explodes.
